Visual Storytelling in Poipet

Marcia Sharing the Prodigal Parable Art/Story in Poipet, Cambodia

It has been am amazing experience to share the love of Jesus through art and story in Poipet, Cambodia. I have had the opportunity to share my collaged cards in order to share Bible stories Jesus told to His friends and enemies. I am amazed and thankful that these cards, a set I made late into the night in sultry, oppressively hot Nicaragua back in the springtime, are being used repeatedly here in Cambodia.

The celebration of the return of the prodigal son.

From women making story ropes and sharing their stories, to watching the children eagerly listen to the story of the Prodigal Parable told by Jesus, I have been emotionally and spiritually undone and encouraged by how powerful art and story can be to start the spark for healing and hope. Art is truly a bridge for sharing our stories.

I am taking a bit of time to process some of what has happened this past week. Next week, I teach some art and story at Safe Haven, the place where rescued children live and learn, so I need some time to recharge and prepare. Thank you to everyone who is praying for me.
