Ready, Set...

Our team is in the preparation stage of our outreaches in Cambodia. We will be coming alongside many who are tirelessly working to care for children and women who have been rescued from the sex traffic industry. The friends above are reading about the history of Cambodia, the role of NGOs in Cambodia's recent history, and what works and doesn't work in Cambodia, especially for short-term outreach care.

My hope is for us to pass along ideas to leaders, and to paint a mural with others there(me). I also hope we share stories from the Bible and help others make art in response to those stories. I'll be sharing my own story through my story rope with women who are in aftercare programs. This is the call on my life, and I am excited to be a part of this very special team, and for us to share our giftings.

If you'd like to help by going with me as a financial sender, you can donate to the non-profit that cares for me. Here is where you can send a tax deducible donation, and your place of employment can send matching funds:http://www.colinkonline.org/donate/. Be sure to put #802/Marcia in the message area.
Thank you for joining me as a financial sender!

Spending Time At Sak Saum

A purse made at Sak Saum - one of many of their creations!
"Sak Saum believes in the restoration of the whole person - physical, mental, social, emotional and spiritual. Often we are asked — how do you see someone healed in every area of their lives? The answer is by walking out daily life. For our girls, a conversation over lunch about a healthy diet, working through a conflict during the work day, serving a blind woman dinner, discussing the Bible during morning devotions, receiving counseling for abusive pasts or family hurts, and learning how to budget money for rice and gas are some of the many ways they experience healing and restoration." - Sak Saum, Cambodia

Sak Saum is a creative, innovative organization in Cambodia. I will have the priviledge of serving in the art therapy room at Sak Saum when I travel there this fall. I, along with one other team member, will have some time there. I'll share Jesus' love and help some beautiful women tell part of their stories through art making. I am hoping to share story ropes and story collage with them. I am praying I will be a blessing and a grace-filled resource for the women there. Please pray with me! October 2013 - I'm Heading Back To Cambodia!

How exciting to be heading back to Cambodia to work alongside those who are serving children and women in very difficult situations. I will be traveling with a team of 10 fellow workers to partner with several stellar organizations, and more specifically, people, who work tirelessly to share God's love with the least and the exploited. I am looking forward to teaching art, maybe paint a mural, teach leaders how to help women share their stories, and teach Bible stories, and art, to children who have been sexually exploited.

Stay tuned as the preparation begins. I am preparing projects for children, sharing ideas with my team, designing a potential mural, and praying hard! (I can only go as the Lord strengthens me.) Thanks for joining me on this journey! Your prayers as I prepare are so appreciated. For those who don't know, my cancer is under control, and I am serving Jesus, with art and story, while He gives me strength and health. Frontline For Justice

As I go through care for cancer, a friend of mine has suggested friends donate funds to Frontline for Justice in my honor. I can't speak highly enough about Frontline. They give donations directly to CHO, Cambodia Hope Organization. As you are thinking through year end donations this month, please consider giving to Frontline for Justice, and help children to be rescued from the sex traffic industry!

Adversity

I have had a bit of a setback health wise. I'd appreciate prayer for healing at this time. I sure would like to get back on the journey of art, faith and story, any prayer would be greatly appreciated. Blessings to each of you, and Merry Christmas.

Reporting Brings Completion and Closure

Just like having the final show when an artist has produced a body of work, the Cambodian team "showed" a body of our work from our trip to Cambodia. It was fun to see several team members come together to share thoughts, memories and next steps. I was asked to consider a couple of further opportunitites to pass the art on to others as several of us chatted afterwards, and one woman shared she is taking "story ropes" to Uganda tomorrow. What great news! You go, Chris!

So, this closes out this chapter of The Creative Call. Check out my website:
The Creative Call to see where, art, story and faith goes next! Blessings to all of you! - Marcia
